What do I do?
Slow down, especially at dawn, dusk and in winter. Reindeer move in herds — where one crosses, more follow.
Wild reindeer live only in the east, and in winter they graze down at the coast, right along Route 1 between Höfn and Egilsstaðir. Collisions peak in the dark months.
