Swimming pool
Sundstaður
What do I do?
Follow this sign after a long day of driving — a soak in the local pool is the best thing you'll do all trip.
The sundlaug is Iceland's real social institution: every town has a geothermally heated pool with hot tubs, and entry costs a fraction of the famous lagoons. One firm rule catches tourists out — you wash thoroughly, without a swimsuit, before entering, and attendants do enforce it.
