The limits are lower than you expect, and the fines are higher — billed straight to your rental.
The limits
50 km/h in towns, 80 on gravel rural roads, 90 on paved rural roads. The limit drops for conditions, not just for signs — wind, rain and gravel all mean slower.
Fines are steep
Speeding fines are among the highest in Europe and cameras are common on Route 1. They are charged to the rental company and passed on to you, often with a handling fee.
