Place name sign
Staðarmerki
What do I do?
Nothing to do — the blue board with yellow letters simply names the place, farm, river or landmark you're passing.
You'll see these constantly at bridges, naming the river below — a name ending in -á means river, as in Þjórsá or Ölfusá. An arrow-shaped blue version (F12.11, staðarvísir) points off the road to a named farm or place instead of marking it.
The words on the sign
