Abandoned farm
Eyðibýli
What do I do?
A crossed-out house on a signpost means the arrow points to an eyðibýli — an abandoned farm. The name is a historical farmstead, not a place with fuel, food or people.
A genuinely Icelandic touch: rural depopulation left hundreds of named ruins across the country, and the road signs still honour them. Some are worth the detour for the setting alone; just arrive self-sufficient.
The words on the sign
