A steep climb is ahead — the percentage on the sign is the gradient. Change down early and keep a steady pace; in winter, momentum matters more than speed, so avoid stopping on the slope.
The uphill twin of the steep-descent sign, common on mountain passes and the fjord roads of the east and west. The last two digits of the sign's official number encode the gradient shown, so a 17% climb is A19.17. Small rental cars work hard on these grades, especially loaded.
