What do I do?
A toll is charged ahead. Iceland's only toll road is the Vaðlaheiðargöng tunnel near Akureyri — there's no booth, so pay online at tunnel.is before or shortly after driving through.
Veggjald is road toll, from vegur (road) and gjald (fee). Cameras read your plate; skip the payment and the rental company gets billed later with a service charge on top, so paying straight away is cheaper.
