Road grading
Vegheflun
What do I do?
A grader is working the gravel ahead, often taking up most of the road's width. Slow to a crawl, follow any hand signals from the operator, and expect a soft ridge of loose gravel down the middle.
A very Icelandic sign: gravel roads develop washboard corrugations and are periodically smoothed by a veghefill, a road grader. Freshly graded gravel is deceptively loose — the surface looks perfect but grips like marbles until traffic packs it down. It's a newer sign, added after the original 1995 regulation.
